Corona B117 Virus – The Karawang Health Office revealed the chronology of the entry of the new Corona variant into Indonesia. Two Karawang residents who were exposed to the Corona B117 virus variant are known to be migrant workers working in Saudi Arabia.
Mutations of the Corona B117 Virus are More Contagious
A Covid-19 case with a mutation of the B117 coronavirus has been detected in Indonesia, exactly a year after the first case of Covid-19 was announced. According to scientists, the B117 mutation is 70 percent more contagious than before.
Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes) Dante Saksono Harbuwono confirmed that there were two cases of Covid-19 with variant B117 on March 2, 2021. Although other cases have not been found, it is possible that the virus mutation has spread.
A spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination Siti Nadia Tarmizi said that two cases of virus mutations came from Indonesian citizens who returned from Saudi Arabia. Kompas.com, March 5, 2021, reported that one of the TKW infected with the B117 virus mutation, a woman with the initials A, returned to Indonesia on January 31, 2021, via Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Upon arrival in Indonesia, A stayed at a hotel located near Wisma Atlet, Jakarta. She has been a TKW for two years. While staying overnight, A underwent a swab test with a positive result of Covid-19 and was immediately quarantined at Wisma Atlet.
After quarantine, A stopped by her husband’s house in Cioter Hamlet, Jatimulya Village, Pedes District, Karawang Regency. West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the two cases of mutation of the coronavirus were found in Karawang Regency, West Java.
“The virus variant B117 UK was detected in Karawang, from residents of Karawang who traveled by Qatar Airways aircraft, according to the landing procedure, was isolated for 10 days,” said Ridwan Kamil,
Padjadjaran University was asked to research the mutation of the virus. Ridwan Kamil also ordered the Karawang Regency Government to immediately anticipate its spread.
After leaving Karawang, the woman with the initials A had returned to her parents’ house in Brebes on February 12, 2021. In Brebes, she celebrated her son’s wedding on February 25-26. Regional Secretary of Brebes Regency, Djoko Gunawan, revealed that the Health Office had conducted tracing of neighbors and guests who had attended the celebration.
Djoko admitted that his party had just found out that the coronavirus that had infected A was a new variant of B117 on March 3, 2021. Head of the Brebes Health Service, Dr. Sartono, said that the seven women’s families had undergone a PCR swab examination. Sartono made sure they were in good condition. As a precautionary measure, they were asked to carry out independent isolation.
